Milan, 18 June 2015: Canavisia Srl, innovative start-up founded in 2014, presents the "Smart Bench", the line of intelligent seating able to communicate, collect data and play audio content. Created and manufactured in Italy following the tradition of design and comfort Made in Italy, Canavisia’s Smart Benches fully meet the criteria and the new trends of smart living and smart city.
Visitors in EXPO will have the opportunity to use the benches in an area set up for listening to music and for downloading information, while charging mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets, and appreciating all the various features offered by these innovative products, including wi-fi and Internet access. The bench can also be equipped to be self-powered via a photovoltaic streetlight. This solution, in line with the criteria of sustainability and autonomy, facilitates the integration of Smart Benches in open spaces (squares, parks, gardens) with the same simplicity as a traditional bench.

The Canavisia Smart Benches, installed in the Open Air Lab TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile) in Turin, in the Telecom Italia Tower of Pero (Milan) and in the EXPO Samsung-TIM hall, are all integrated into the experimental platform created by TIM supporting IoT (Internet of Things) and adhering to the ETSI (European Telecommunication Standard Institute), a specific international standard. This integration took place according to the technological paradigm of Future Internet in which the European Commission is also investing funds for research and innovation. Smart Benches in particular are integrated into and enable the realization of the Smart City in which objects of the city become intelligent and active, supporting citizens and the public administration. Smart, interconnected objects produce data, that are collected and transmitted via a specially developed Tim Network, to realize the so-called Smart Urban communication Infrastructure (SUI), which is the nervous system of the future Smart City. This architecture serves as a technological enabler and accelerator of new ecosystems that develop new value chains, involving, for example, third party smart city application developers (SMEs and web entrepreneurs).
